The Owner had decided to convert a former family summer camp into a permanent retirement residence. The site had certain constraints and the existing structure required a sensitive design strategy to ensure its original character was protected with the addition of a 2 story garage and bedroom suite. The addition was oriented to face the street for better vehicle entry. The second floor bedroom suite was articulated to minimize the building mass and create a form that while taller than the original, seemed connected to it in a simple, honest marriage.
